Veteran’s Parade Gone Sideways
An Alleycat Crew Short
Poncia was experiencing an explosion of riches and innovation. The adverse effects of the small sun’s radiation had finally been neutralized by a vaccine, which meant the people of Poncia could go outside without getting burned to a crisp. So they went outside… and found every excuse imaginable to party. Hard.
The Veteran’s Parade was one of the biggest excuses on the calendar. Guy and Triana had gone the year before and insisted Kash and Calynn come this time. Their brothel was one of the main sponsors, so they had a massive tent set up with picnic tables, free food, and free booze. The girls from the brothel were running everything, which meant Triana got to design the uniforms. They were amazing.
Calynn loved hers.
The shiny black corseted tops didn’t fully close in the front, leaving a hand-width gap down the middle. Pink silk ribbons laced through silver grommets kept everything barely in place while showing maximum skin. The skin-tight black shorts sat low on her hips and barely covered the bottom of her ass, but they came with matching tuxedo-style coattails that hung to the back of her knees, trimmed in black lace and more pink ribbon.
She felt dangerously sexy in it.
A small commotion pulled her attention. Calynn turned just in time to see Nura punch some guy square in the face.
“Keep your hands to yourself, you pervert!” Nura snapped, standing over him like she was deciding whether to hit him again.
Security dragged the man away and the party barely skipped a beat.
“Speaking of security,” Calynn muttered to herself, scanning the crowd. “Where the hell is Kash?”
She checked the tables, the food line, even the fire pits where some of the guys were cooking. Nothing. She eventually found Luna near the edge of the tent.
“Have you seen Kash?”
“Not recently,” Luna replied, letting her eyes drag slowly down Calynn’s body. “But I’m definitely seeing you right now.”
Calynn tried to hold eye contact and failed. Luna looked unfairly good in her uniform too.
“I’m gonna go look for him,” Calynn shouted over the noise of the crowd and the approaching marching band.
Luna gave her a thumbs-up and a smirk.
Calynn walked the entire perimeter of their section twice before she admitted defeat. The only place left was the brothel itself. She joined a line of servers heading inside to restock drinks and slipped in with them.
The lobby was four stories tall with open balconies at every level. An arm was dangling over the railing at the very top floor.
It looked exactly like Kash’s arm.
Calynn hopped the gate and ran up the stairs two at a time. When she reached the top landing, she stopped and stared.
Kash was on the floor, clothes half-unbuttoned and disheveled, still clutching a mostly empty bottle of wine. He’d clearly been trying to make it to their suite, started stripping on the way, and only made it this far.
She squatted down beside him and immediately turned her head from the smell of alcohol on his breath.
“How drunk are you?” she asked, nose wrinkled.
She shook his shoulders. He mumbled something incoherent.
“HEY!” She shook him harder.
“Huh?” His eyes cracked open.
“You’re drunk.”
“You’re… pretty.”
His breath nearly knocked her over. He was really drunk.
“Come on,” Calynn growled, hauling him to his feet.
“Whoa…” Kash swayed dangerously.
She barely gave him time to find his balance before she started dragging him down the hall toward their suite. The swirling blue, black, gray, and purple carpet seemed to fascinate him. Or maybe he was just trying not to fall over. Either way, she was doing most of the work.
She got the door open and Kash immediately collapsed in a heap just inside. He groaned, laughed at something only he understood, muttered a string of nonsense, laughed again, and then started snoring.
Calynn stood over him with her hands on her hips, staring in disbelief.
“Your loss,” she said flatly.
She moved his legs out of the way, closed the door, and headed back downstairs.
Nura and Luna were both in the lobby grabbing fresh trays of drinks. They both lit up when they saw her coming down the stairs.
“I’ll be staying with you two tonight,” Calynn announced with a bright smile.
“Woo hoo!” Luna cheered.
“Why?” Nura asked, already suspicious.
“Because there’s an idiot in a drunken stupor on my floor,” Calynn said, rolling her eyes.
“His loss,” Luna said immediately.
“Yep,” Nura agreed. Then she tilted her head. “But we should probably check on him at some point.”
“Maybe dump some water on him,” Luna suggested with a wicked little grin.
“Or just pour enough on his crotch so he wakes up thinking he pissed himself,” Calynn added, giggling.
“Strip him naked and lay another drunk guy on top of him,” Nura said, eyes sparkling. “The older and hairier the better.”
“Oh, you’re mean,” Luna laughed, clearly delighted. “I’m in.”
“Me too,” Calynn snickered.
Nura grabbed her tray and smirked at both of them.
“Who knew we could get so much joy out of other people drinking free booze? Shall we?”
“We shall,” Calynn and Luna said in unison, grabbing their own trays.
The three of them smiled at each other like they were about to commit a crime, then headed back out into the crowd to find an old guy to get spectacularly drunk. The hairier the better.
