I'm Bored – Kash's Favorite Fix
An Alleycat Crew Short
“I’m bored,” Calynn whined, flopping dramatically across the bed like the ship had personally offended her.
“You’re always bored,” Kash sighed, not looking up from the article on his monitor.
“Not always.”
“Why must you torment me so?”
“Torment you?” Calynn sounded genuinely hurt. “How am I tormenting you?”
“Like this.”
“Like what?”
“Never mind.”
“No,” she argued, sitting up. “You need to explain yourself.”
Kash finally glanced over, one eyebrow raised. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Me?” Calynn scowled back. “What do you mean by ‘I’m tormenting you’?”
“I was sitting here peacefully reading an article and now you’re yelling at me!”
“I’m not yelling!”
“Yes, you are!”
“Well… you started it!”
“Started what?”
“Yelling!”
Kash turned back to his article with exaggerated calm. “I’m not yelling.”
“Excuse me?” Calynn exclaimed, spinning his chair so he had to face her. “We need to talk about this.”
“Talk about what?”
“What we were just talking about!” she barked. “The yelling!”
Kash couldn’t hold it anymore. A smirk broke across his face. “Oh… are you still bored?”
Calynn blinked at him… twice per second, like her brain was buffering. She couldn’t decide whether to keep scowling or laugh. Even confused she was absolutely stunning.
“Gaslighting me is not entertainment,” she scolded, jabbing a finger at his chest.
“I wasn’t gaslighting you,” Kash said, grin widening. “I was starting an argument about nothing just so we could make up after.”
Calynn’s mouth opened, closed, then opened again. “Well… that wasn’t very nice.” She pouted, but she was already climbing into his lap. “Why would you say that I torment you?”
“Sorry, I have a horrible vocabulary,” Kash smiled, sliding his hands to her hips. “I meant to say…”
He paused to give her a slow, soft kiss that made the rest of the galaxy disappear.
“Why must you distract me so?” he murmured against her lips.
“I am rather distracting,” Calynn whispered, kissing him again. “And I suppose I do torment your ability to read the news.”
“Are we still talking,” Kash asked, “or can we get to the making-up part now?”
“You haven’t carried me to the bed yet,” she smiled, nodding toward the berth. “It’s over there.”
Kash laughed, scooped her up in one smooth motion, and headed that direction without another word.
